Tom Waits Lyrics On Human Canvas

One post often leads to another on The FontFeed. In response to the Post TYPO Berlin 2009 post – yeah, that's two times "post", I know – featuring the lovely Mrs Eaves Write here, right now video, faithful FontFeed reader Simon Robertson pointed out another video in the same vein. In the music video for the Tom Waits song Come On Up to the House, from the Grammy-winning Mule Variations (Best Contemporary Folk Album at the 42nd Annual Grammy Awards 1999), the lyrics for the song are written on a human body. Director Anders Lövgren took a quite different approach, a much courser interpretation with raw, expressive writing filmed in stop motion. The stuttering rhythm and frenetic layering of the images beautifully complements the intense, offbeat delivery of Waits gravelly voice.
