Symbolic of the progressive spirit of our new state and contradicting the popular misconception that Alaska is a desolate wilderness, this modern school typifies the rapid development of Anchorage, "Fastest Growing City in the United States"

I'm assuming this postcard was printed in the mid-'50s. The building was established in 1953, "the first of eight four-year comprehensive secondary schools in the Anchorage School District". It is now known as West Anchorage High School and was revamped after a 1964 earthquake.
