Back in 1981, Deutsche Bundespost – the German postal authority – not only deemed blackletter a suitable genre for stamps. They also had graphic artists who knew when to use the longſ(in initial and medial position) and when to use the rounds(only at the end of morphemes).
The image depicting the Nativity of Jesus is a reproduction of a reverse glass painting from Sandl, Austria, c. 1840.
